“GLORIA”
Documentary & Videoinstallation, D 2013, HD, 15 & 20 Min.
“GLORIA” – A small portrait of research in the field of climate science. “GLORIA” is the name of an infrared spectrometer which is installed at an aircraft fuselage and determines climate relevant trace-gases in the atmosphere, such as ozone or water vapour, in their distribution and concentration. The film takes the position of the objective observer that records the preparation and implementation of the first scientific flight in August 2012. The extended settings can be read as small visible and audible portraits of the people, the places and the instruments, that means the process of work in the field of climate science. The documentary images follow scientific images, so that the film makes it possible for the viewer to experience the high degree of abstraction of the climate research field.
